We brought to your notice already that the acclaimed Malayalam blockbuster ‘2018: Everyone Is A Hero’ was selected as India’s official entry to the Oscar Awards 2024 under the Best International Feature category. It is worth mentioning that nearly 22 films were considered for the selection including four Tamil movies.
The four projects that were considered for India’s Oscars Entry this year are director Vetrimaaran’s ‘Viduthalai Part 1’, Udhayanidhi and Vadivelu in director Mari Selvaraj’s ‘Maamannan’, the Dhanush starrer ‘Vaathi’ and the Gautham Karthik starrer ‘August 16 1947’. This news is now trending across all the social media platforms.
In the history of Indian cinema, no Tamil film has ever bagged the nomination for an Oscar award but nearly ten Tamil films have entered the race as India’s official entry. They are Sivaji Ganesan’s ‘Deiva Magan’, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Nayakan’, ‘Thevar Magan’, ‘Kuruthi Punal’, ‘Indian’, ‘Hey Ram’, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Anjali’, Shankar’s ‘Jeans’, Vetrimaaran’s ‘Visaranai’, PS Vinothraj’s ‘Pebbles’.
