Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus film, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, emerged as the top-grosser in Tamil cinema. Recently, the movie team announced that the second and final installment of the franchise will be released on April 28th. The latest update now is that Ponniyin Selvan 2 enters the post-production stage officially.
We already reported to you that Mani Ratnam shot both parts of Ponniyin Selvan together. After some recent patchwork, the dubbing work for ‘PS2’ has started and is progressing at a brisk phase. R Parthiban, a famous actor-director who played Chinna Pazhuvettarayar role in PS1, took to his social media today to indirectly update that he started dubbing for the sequel.
Sharing a BTS selfie from the dubbing studio, the veteran wrote, “Good morning 3rd persons! Guess whatâs happening for what ? 1 Clue is 2” (sic). The VFX work for the sequel is also happening simultaneously, and this movie is expected to be more grandeur than the first part. Ponniyin Selvan is the adaptation of author Kalki’s novel of the same name and the dream project of Mani Ratnam.
Ponniyin Selvan, the epic historical fiction saga, is a mega multistarrer comprising Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Prakash Raj Sarathkumar, Jayaram, Prabhu, Vikram Prabhu, and R Parthiban in important characters and many others in supporting roles. AR Rahman is composing the musical score with DOP by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad and art by Thota Tharani.
